Salutation to Mohd Rafi, Munshi Premchand and J.K. Rowling!!!

648th BLOG POST -->>

             What can be said about the "day" which is associated with three such individuals who are an institution in themselves. I believe that God has given equal amount of talent to each one of us. But there are very few who identify themselves with perseverance, hard-work and dedication. And out of these "few", there are less than 1% who get into the class of "Legends". And these Legends are an Inspiration, motivation and instance to us. I respect all such legends. And about this day which is associated with 3 Mega-Legends, I have nothing to say except that I am lucky to have my Blog associated with the same day(you'll come to know in 650th post, how :-)). Today is the Death anniversary of one of the Biggest Playback Singers India had- Late. Mohd Rafi sahaab. And Birthday of Late Munshi Premchand sahaab- STILL said to be the only Writer to touch hearts of every Indian reader and J.K. Rowling- The Best Children's book writer world has. :-) Words are less to define these individuals. Even when two of them are not with us, we still feel as if they are around us- because of their extra-ordinary works. We have Rafi's songs still in our Playlists/folders and Premchand's books in our shelves. They are IMMORTAL.

             Mohd. Rafi's active years as a Singer has been from 1944 to 1980. He was born in Kotla Sultan Singh, Punjab in British India on 24th December, 1924. He is termed as the Greatest Indian male playback singer of all time, due to which he has also received "The Best Singer of the MILLENNIUM award" too in 2000 after 20 years of his death. In his lifetime, except this award, he has also been awarded the National Award, Best National Singer award, Six Filmfare awards and also Padma Shri by Government of India. He sang 4516 Hindi film songs, 112 non-Hindi film songs and 328 private(non-film) songs. He is primarily known for his songs in Hindi-Urdu but he also sang in other languages like Konkani, Bhojpuri, Oriya, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Sindhi, Kannada, Gujarati, Telugu, Maghi, Maithili and Assamese. He also recorded in foreign languages such as English, Persian, Spanish and Dutch. Singers like Shabbir Kumar, Mohd Aziz and Sonu Nigam made their names by adopting Rafi's style, and perhaps owe their entire careers to Rafi. After his death, seven Hindi movies were dedicated to him; Allah Rakha, Mard, Coolie, Desh-Premee, Naseeb, Aas-Paas and Heeralal-Pannalal. What more should I speak about this LEGEND!!!

             Coming to Late Munshi Premchand sahaab. He was born on the same day in 1880 and died on 8th October, 1936. He was a novel writer, story writer and a dramatist too. He is regarded as one of the most celebrated writers of our Indian subcontinent. He is referred as "Upasyas Samrat" which means "Emperor of Novels" by some Hindi writers. His work includes more than a dozen novels, 250+ short storied, several essays and translations of a number of foreign literary works into Hindi. Premchand translated several non-Hindi works into Hindi such as Ratan Nath's Dhar Sarshar, Leo Tolstoy's, Charles Dickens's The Story of Richard Doubledick, Oscar Wilde's Canterville, John Galsworthy's Strife, Sadi, Guy de Maupassant, Maurice Maeterlinck's Sightless and Hendrik van Loon's The Story of mankind and etc. Premchand is considered as the first Hindi writer whose writing featured Reality and Society. He generally wrote about poverty and urban middle-class's situations. He also spread public awareness about corruption, child widowhood, prostitution, feudal system, poverty, colonialism and on the India's freedom movement. RESPECT!!!
