Things That Can Never Mix- Kolaveri-Di and Sensibility !!!

            491st BLOG -->>

Dhanush, son-in-law of Rajnikanth used a good tactic to promote a new Tamil film "3" being made by him. The film is due to release in 2012 but the song "Why This Kolaveri Di" is a youth anthem now-a-days. Everyone is talking about it. Even my father was humming the song yesterday. According to composer Anirudh Ravichander, the director Aishwarya Dhanush wanted a lofty fresh song on love failure, and he had composed a suitable tune for that. Dhanush, then reportedly came up with this song in around 20 minutes. They released the song on Youtube and it has already got 15 million hits. It was trending on Twitter for 3 days and people are still talking about it. The song is also broadcasting on MTV and it is the first Tamil song which is played on MTV. But, as it is said, where there is a fame, there is a group which is sitting to defame you. There are many people who feel that the song has been over-rated and the reason is that Dhanush is son-in-law of Rajnikanth and its enough to gain popularity. And this is quite true till some extent. When I was asked to listen this song by a friend of mine, I reacted,"What is this Kolaveri Di? And I am not listening it because I will not understand anything." But when I came to know that it has some relation with Rajnikanth, I downloaded the video. And this is just not my story, this is why many of us has seen this video on Youtube.

When something becomes HIT among people, anyone who dares to speak against it, becomes a LOSER or a WANNA-BE by default. Javed Akhtar, recently, tweeted on Twitter against this song, saying,"Kolaveri-D. Every one is praising the robes but the emperor is naked. Tune ordinary, singing substandard, words an insult to sensibility. Some get over awed by success but to me it is only the quality that matters . Ideally what is desireable is success with quality." And when a fan of Kolaveri-D reacted to it and said that Mr. Akhtar is a trash, he replied,"What kind of logic is this even if all my songs are trash, meaningless, unbearable how does that make this Kolaveri D good?"

Actually, I almost agree with Javed Akhtar while thinking about this but in a certain approach. When someone has the power of setting a trend, it shouldn't be misused. When Dhanush has the power of transforming a normal song into a youth anthem, he could have done something sensible which would have bought a nice revolution where a song of any language would have got accepted worldwide (like it happened with Kolaveri D). See the lyrics of Javed Akhtar's songs and compare it with the lyrics of Kolaveri D. Kolaveri falls badly. But, people criticized and pulled legs of Javed Akhtar by tweeting all this-

"Javed Akhtar appears to measure sensibility by the whine, moan & flutterings of the urdu lyric. Wake up, there's a real world out here"

"#kolaveri song ke hit hone se javed akhtar ko kyon khujli ho rahi hai? Writing #kolaveri is difficult than his kind of poetry"

"Number of fucks given to javed akhtar for his comments on kolaveri di:zero"

"Javed Akhtar behaving like a moron"

I have no problem with Kolaveri Di gaining popularity. It's good. But it got a huge success and now every lyricist will chose such kind of lyrics to write a song rather than using beautiful words and making it an evergreen one. For how many days will you play Kolaveri D on your IPod? For next one month, but after that, you'll go back to your favorites Sandese Aate hain, Main Jahaan Rahoon, Teri Meri and Kya Itna Bura Hun Main Maa. The songs like Kun Faaya Kun and Khwaja Mere Khwaja gains respect of people while the songs like Kolaveri Di are abused when a friend plays it after 1 year of its release. But, if now, someone says anything against it, he will be termed as a MORON. Where has the broad vision of Indians gone? We are the same people who had guts to throw Britishers away but now, we can't hear something against our personal liking.

I believe that if a person has power of making something a "Trend" in our society, he should bring out the best. Everyone of you'll remember that we had very pure movies until 2001(except few). But, as soon as JISM and MURDER was released, a certain kind of TREND began and every director started coming with such kind of movies and we had many in a queue- Julie, Sheesha, Hawas etc. Today, the condition is that that every movie has a Sex scene or a Smooch scene. Without it, audience find the movie quite boring. The Dirty Picture has release yesterday and people have just gone to see it because of the extreme exposure. That's another story that movie has turned out to be fair and worth-watching.

When a TREND of Remixing old songs came with Kaanta Laga, almost every old song was remixed and even the movies which came out during that contemporary period had remixes of each song of their movies. The originality was getting killed but somehow people realized that killing the originality is not a right thing and they started ignoring Remixes.

When one News Channel started showing stupid BREAKING NEWS, almost every channel started showing something stupid going on as BREAKING NEWS. The Trend of STUPID BREAKING NEWS is still on where we get news like "Amitabh ko lagi thand" "Salman ne rickshaw pakad ke subko chauka diya" "Sachin aaj apne shatak se chookey. 7 run par OUT hue" Arre BC, 99 banata tab chookta na, 7 run banake kahaan se "chook" gaya?

Recently, ANNA came with his concept of hunger-strike and now I can see almost everyone sitting on a Hunger-strike for gaining attention of government.

Once, Roadies came into the scene, almost every music channel started multi-reality shows where contestants abused each other and violence is shown so freely on these national channels. Some channels like UTV BINDAAS are made only for showing such reality shows. BIGG BOSS is shown on a popular channel like COLORS but even they don't find it weird in showing people abusing each other quite frequently.

So, if you have that fan base and idea of building a TREND in society, please come up with something sensible and not with this Tamilish(Tamil-English lyrics) which can start a STUPID TREND again.

It's time for Javed Akhtar to bear all the sweet abuses on Twitter but after 1 year, the same people will make fun of Kolaveri Di and Dhanush. Now, I have talked against Kolaveri Di so I can obviously expect some people calling me a WANNA-BE BLOGGER or a WANNA-BE JAVED AKHTAR or a MORON or a CRAP or a LOSER. I am ready. But still, presenting something wrong is wrong. You are inspiring some other developers to develop themselves by using this kind of medium rather than coming out with something very sensible. Think upon this.

             Thanks.

Everytime something becomes popular, some cynical person has to have a nasty opinion about it. You say you 'downloaded' it after you heard it was sung by Rajnikanth's son-in-law. In my case, a friend posted it on FB and I innocently clicked on it to see what it was and I guess what-it brought a smile to my face. the lyrics were not 'sensible'? Yes, they weren't meant to be. It was light hearted and humorous which is why it won many hearts. Javed Akhtar may or may not have liked it but I find his tweet highly unprofessional. It is clearly out of jealousy. He should get his face out of his you know where.

Nikhi sir, this is what m saying, when he has that power to Trend something, trend something which is capable of winning a reward...

Writing Buddha said...

I m blaming because this song will give birth to a wrong trend of songs in future else I have liked the work done on it. But still, respectable songs will remain in our heart while we will forget Kolaveri in few days. @harman mam
